United Way Greater Toronto supports the principles of the AODA and is committed to meeting the requirements of the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation. We will work to prevent and remove barriers and to provide fair and effective accommodation for people with disabilities. Inclusiveness is one of our organization’s values and promotion of integration and equity is reflected in all that we do. Our commitment to accessibility extends beyond the four walls of our organization and into the community, through partnering with our funding agencies who work to improve the lives of people with disabilities.

United Way Greater Toronto has utilized guidelines issued by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to implement functional improvements to unitedwaytyr.com. We endeavor to ensure that all content on unitedwaytyr.com, and all content on other sites managed by United Way Greater Toronto, satisfy Level A and AA Success Criteria set forth in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) at www.aoda.ca.

While we strive to make our website and the other sites we manage as accessible as possible and to meet the WCAG 2.0 guidelines, our pages may not always pass online validation tools due to aspects of the technology used to manage those websites. Similarly, some third-party hosted content presented contextually on our sites via iFrames or other technologies, including mapping systems, event forms and other applications, is out of our control but we regularly monitor these sections, and look to develop accessible solutions as technology improves. We also encourage our partners and vendors to comply with industry-wide accessibility standards as part of our business relationship.

Some of our content is in PDF format only. We are working towards reducing our dependence on PDFs for use on our web site, and training staff to provide content in more accessible formats. If you require these documents in an alternative format we will make them available upon request. Contact us by:
