Welcoming Afghan Newcomers

We are partnering with The City of Toronto and Lifeline Afghanistan to fundraise in support of Afghans resettling in Toronto and the GTA. Canada will accept at least 20,000 Afghan refugees, many of whom will make their home in the GTA. Many of the individuals and families who are arriving are leaving almost everything behind.

Let’s unite as a community and welcome our new friends and neighbours, helping them on the road to building a strong future in the GTA.

Donations

When you make a financial donation your gift will support community, frontline agencies that will help many Afghan individuals and families settle in their new home, including providing housing and employment support, food, clothing and more.

The City of Toronto is facilitating donations of gifts-in-kind of new (versus used) much-needed items such as clothing, diapers, school supplies, books, backpacks, household items, including bedding and cleaning supplies, laptops and WiFi connectivity.

Volunteering

We know Torontonians like you have big hearts and lots of expertise that can directly benefit organizations helping Afghans resettle. Currently the need for direct volunteer engagement with Afghan resettlement is met so we encourage you to visit Volunteer Toronto for other opportunities or register with Lifeline Afghanistan to join its efforts.
